Amos Cottage, Inc. is proud to announce a partnership with the Junior League of Winston-Salem’s BookWORM Program. The mission of BookWORM is to collect new and gently used books from the Junior League members and the greater community and to facilitate their distribution to children who have limited or no access to books in their homes.

Amos Cottage works with over 1,000 families in our Children’s Developmental Services Agency (CDSA), the Therapeutic Day Program, Neonatal follow-up clinics, and Developmental/Behavioral Pediatrics clinics.

“Our families come from across the board financially, so it’s wonderful to provide books to some of our more economically challenged families,” said Lisa Aft, Executive Administrator for Amos Cottage, Inc. “Our CDSA specialists report that parents’ faces just light up when they are given a book to read with their child.”

To date Amos Cottage has received over 2,000 books through this fabulous partnership with the Junior League. “This opportunity provides enough books to give not only our patients a book, but their siblings as well,” Aft said. “We are so grateful to give the gift of reading to all of our families.”

Books are also located in each of the clinical waiting rooms at Amos Cottage.

Amos Cottage, Inc. is dedicated to supporting programs offered by health-care providers for early diagnosis and treatment strategies for families and their children who have developmental disabilities and behavioral disorders, to help them live to their fullest potential.
